Introduction
School of Marxism
The Schoolof Marxism is based on the Marxism-Leninism Teaching and Research Office founded in 1960at Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute. The school went through several phases: the Marxism-Leninism Teaching and Research Office of Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute, Social Science Department, the Humanities and Social Sciences Department, School of Humanities and Law of YSU, pushing the development of Liberal Arts disciplines of YSU. The School of Marxism was founded in 2010, and became a Hebei training and research base for college teachers of ideological and political education (in the field of conspectus of Chinese modern history) in May 2012.
To teach 4000 undergraduates and graduates ideological and political course, theschool employs 37 faculty including: 7 professors, 10 associate professors, 35 with doctoral degrees and 15 graduate supervisors. Thereis1 outstanding teacher in national ideological and political course, 1 Labor Day female pioneer teacher, 1 influential teacher of university ideological and political course in 2013, 2 Hebei outstanding teachers, 1 winner of Fok Ying Tong Award for Young Teachers, 1 outstanding party member in Hebei educational system and 1 pioneer in Hebei project “Three Cultivation”.
With the guidance of YSU Party Committee, the school is an independent secondary education and research organization with three departments:Department of Fundamental Principles of Marxism, Department Ideological and Political Education and Department of Localization of Marxism in China, and a research center of traditional culture and socialist core value, and the subject echelon of “Red Melody” and Marxist ideology.
Thefaculty has made achievements in teaching and research, including: 1 course awarded as an "Excellent Course" by the Ministry of Education (Conspectus of Chinese Modern History), 2 Hebei quality courses, 1 Hebei resource sharing quality course, 2 YSU quality courses.
Since 2010, more than 120 papers have been published (50 indexed by CSSCI), 10 books published, 4 national social science foundation programs completed and 20 provincial-ministerial level teaching and research awards received.
Since 2010, the school implements the education reform of the “Red Melody” theme with activities, such as “Red Melody” rostrum, book club, network (QQ group), film, newspaper and social investigation; the “Four Ones” project with the content of “one rostrum, one book, one movie and one public welfare activity” in and after class. The ideological and political education and the campus cultural construction are integrated to provide students a personalized education mode.
