Time: 14:30, Dec. 5th (Tuesday), 2017

Venue: Lecture Hall, 18th floor, Century Building, East Campus

Topic: The Characteristics of Seafloor Seismic Motion and the Seismic Response of Cross-Sea Bridge

Lecturer: Prof. Dongsheng Wang

About the Lecturer: Dongsheng Wang, professor and PhD supervisor of Hebei University of Technology, received his Doctor’s Degree at Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration in 2002, entered the postdoctoral research station of Dalian University of Technology in 2003, began to work at Dalian Maritime University in 2004 and was recruited by Hebei University of Technology in 2017. Wang mainly works on the anti-seismic research of bridges and structures, and was selected into Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of Ministry of Education of China and Excellent Talents Program of Education Department of Liaoning Province. Prof. Wang successively presided over many scientific and technological projects including 5 projects of National Natural Science Foundation, 1 project of Western China Communication Science & Technology Program and 3 projects of ministerial and provincial foundations. He has published 115 periodical papers (49 as first author and corresponding author) including 8 SCI papers (6 as corresponding author), and published 20 academic conference papers. The citation on CSCD is over 410 times with an H index of 13 and 2250 times on CNKI with an H index of 30. Besides, Wang has been authorized 6 invention patents.

About the Lecture:

This lecture mainly introduces the observation results of strong motion on seafloor, the understanding of seafloor seismic motion through numerical simulation, and the seismic response and control of the cross-sea bridge considering the coupling effect of pile-soil-water. The main contents are as follows:

(1) The SEMS record of K-NET in Japan and the analysis of SEMS record in American;

(2) Study on the influence of seawater, silt and soft soil layer on the seabed surface, and seabed topography (slope) on seafloor seismic motion based on numerical simulation;

(3) The new energy dissipation mode and coupling seismic response of the cable-stayed bridge structure with Buckling-restrained Support (BRB) among bridge towers (pier) and main girders.

All teachers and students are welcome!
